VR Combat Flight PS3 Controller Setup

VR Combat Flight PS3 Controller Setup

Hey Everyone, JayRay asked me if I would create a post detailing how I set up my ps3 controller to work with his amazing game VR Combat Flight. In order to get it to work, you need a ps3 controller and the sixaxis app(requires root)

Step 1: load up the game and select "Keyboard controls customized"

Step 2: either save a screen shot, or write down the actions and corresponding keys(i.e. throttle up = w)

Step 3: Exit the game and load up the sixaxis app. Click on the 3 dots at the upper right and select preferences

Step 4: Select Keyboard Emulation

Step 5: Select Key Mappings

Step 6: Select 1st Controller

Step 7: Select Edit Mappings

Step 8: In this step you need to refer back to step 2. You need to map the ps3 keys to correspond to the keys in step 2. for example in this screenshot I set R1 to w. This means R1 will be throttle up(see step 2). Set up your controller however you like. make sure that every action is mapped to a button on the ps3 controller

Step 9: Once you have assigned all of the actions. hit the back button and cave your profile. this allows you to have different profiles with different keys mapped to the ps3 controller. you can then come back to this screen and load different profiles depending upon which game you are playing. If this is your only profile, then it will be the default profile for keyboard emulation

Step 10: Hit back and go to Gamepad Settings

Step 11: Make sure the enable gamepad box is unchecked

Step 12: go back to the main screen of six axis. Click on Change IME and switch the input method to Sixaxis Controller. This makes your phone think the controller is the keyboard. (keep in mind you will have to come back in here and change it back when you're done. otherwise you'll go to use your keyboard and wonder why it isn't popping up!)

Step 13: go back into the game, click on "keyboard controls customized" and get back to this screen. Now when you click a button on your controller you will see the plane react accordingly. In this example, when I click R1, the game thinks I clicked w on a keyboard and the propeller will start moving as if I am throttling up. Make sure all the buttons work, then click next and enjoy the game!

If you run into any issues, or have any trouble, just comment on this thread and I'll help out if I can.

this worked great! thanks for taking the time to put a guide together as I was pretty lost trying to get this to work myself. hoping I can apply a few of the steps to get my controller working better with some of the other games out there
