Detect magnet pull on Android

In the Google Cardboard app, the phone's magnet sensor is used to detect magnetic field changes in order to provide the user a way to "click".

How could this be accomplished in Unity, with the Dive plugin?

Google has a how-to here, except that it is for Java development with the Android SDK, not for Unity. https://developers.google.com/cardboard/get-started

Not possible at all. The Dive plugin doesn't take any information from the magnetometer, let alone run analysis to detect the signal change that the magnet-pull represents.
If you buy the plugin GyroDroid, you'll have access to the magnetometer. If you're determined enough, I'm sure you could develop your own signal analysis to detect the magnet pull. Not trivial though.
