Right now I am trying to teach design and UX heuristics principles. But I'm having a hard time despite understanding everything myself. Need a crash course for my team.

Heuristics are UX’s cheat codes. This guide to heuristic principles breaks down Nielsen’s 10 commandments, like ‘Match real-world conventions’ (don’t reinvent the shopping cart) and ‘Error recovery’ (let users undo disasters). I once ignored ‘consistency’—users revolted. Now I preach: ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t redesign it.’ And it isn’t the only article about this topic or close topics there. Take a look.
