Galaxy S4 test available ?

Any test with the Galaxy S4 ?
I have to decide and think that higher resolution would be nicer.
Additionally the SOC of S4 should have better performance

I tried the S4 very briefly and the display looked good. Very little screendoor effect. I have however read something about jitter... I think it was mentioned in the current c't magazine.

Also the high resolution might make Quake slower. I dont know what the framerate is on this device.

For testing the head tracking quality please use the Dive Unity Demo from the Play store. not Quake.

I don't own a dive yet. But I can confirm that all the dive games and the unity demo do work perfect on samsung's latets high end phone.

I own the Galaxy S4 and got my Dive (current customer edition) a few days before.
It's a pretty cool and good valued replacement for any other VR solution I know.

Full HD / 2 makes 960 * 1024 astonishing Pixels per eye !
My S4 responds in realtime. No drops detected so far.
I tried the demo and my favorite : "The Height"
But watch out: if one is affected by epilepsy or similar it might cause some trouble in rare cases.
I must state that I am going to close any running session and I don't use any firmware mods on my S4.
It works perfectly with a bluetooth keyboard / keypad.
Now I am searching for a solution to get the S4 by default into a side by side graphic mode.
So I could use it for web surfing and so on without unpacking it from the dive and so on.

Finally one thing to mention with the assembly :
There are 2 sets of slapstock foam pads delivered with the Dive to be mounted by hook-and-loop tapes.
They are needed to press the phone against the Dive's front frame and to avoid direct contact between the Dive's front phone holder clamp with your phones chassis.
The pressure for the S4 is a bit to high using the original foam pads.
My S4 rear plastic cover has been bended due to the too high pressure,
I reworked the slapstock foam pads and got the pressure now perfectly adjusted to keep the S4 without stress on place even if I shake my head.
If one knows this from the beginning it might be easy to check and solve this issue before getting into trouble with the S4.
I will also mention that the S4 volume adjust buttons and the ON/OFF button might be tricky to be placed in a proper position without pressing them undesired.

A very good solution to the problem of the foam pads being too hard for your phone is to cut them in half (horizontally) and use only one of the halves. by changing the height where you put the pad in the front cover you can adjust the pressure further.
The dive cover should be fairly easy to close and not be too tight.
I have tested the halved pads with about 25 phones right now and we will supply half-wide pads in the future as well.
