Print only central divider?

Print only central divider?

by jboss on Apr 24th, 2015 15:01 PM

Hi,

I somehow lost the divider part that avoids crosstalk between the two parts of the screen and I am planning on printing it. But after downloading the stl file I notied that in that file the divider is attached to the rest of the Dive, whereas in the purchased version it is a separate part that fits into a slot in the top of the DIve holder.

Is there an stl file for the divider that fits in the slot?

To print a separate divider that fits into the slot, you'll need a modified STL file that separates the two parts. Here are some steps you can take:
[ol]
[li]Check the Original Source: If you purchased or obtained the Dive holder from a specific source, such as a manufacturer or distributor, it's a good idea to check with them first. They might have the STL file or 3D model for the separate divider available for download or purchase.
[/li]

[li]Modify the STL File: If you are proficient with 3D modeling software, you can attempt to modify the existing STL file to separate the divider from the rest of the Dive. You would need to import the STL file into a 3D modeling program (e.g., Blender, Autodesk Fusion 360) and then use the software's editing tools to create the separate part.
[/li]

[li]Seek Online Communities: There are online communities and forums where 3D printing enthusiasts share and discuss 3D models. Websites like Thingiverse, MyMiniFactory, and PrusaPrinters have extensive libraries of user-generated 3D models. You can search these platforms to see if someone has already created a separate divider STL file that fits your Dive holder.
[/li]

[li]Contact 3D Modelers: If you can't find a suitable STL file online, you can consider reaching out to 3D modelers or designers who offer custom 3D modeling services. They can create a specific STL file for the separate divider based on your requirements.
[/li]

[li]DIY Separation: Depending on the complexity of the Dive holder and divider, you might attempt to physically separate them by using tools and techniques, but this may not always yield the desired results, especially if the parts are intricately designed.
[/li]

[/ol]
Before proceeding, ensure that you have the necessary permissions to modify or reproduce the 3D model, especially if it's a proprietary design. Additionally, consider the tolerances and measurements to ensure that the separate divider fits correctly into the slot in the Dive holder.
