Lantern Festival VR

Lantern Festival VR

by keaukraine on Aug 17th, 2014 16:32 PM

Let me introduce our first Android app for Durovis Dive - Lantern Festival VR. It is a port of one of our most popular live wallpapers.
This app represents a typical night view of Lantern Festival celebration. Serene mountains lit by full moon reflect in river, and flickering lanterns are both in the air and on the surface of the water.

App does not use neither Unity3D nor any other 3rd party engine, all code is 100% Java + OpenGL ES 2.0 / 3.0. The most significant feature is fisheye lense effect, like in Oculus Rift. It compensates lens distortions (especially noticeable at straight edges) and provides more immersive visuals. You can try it with fisheye on and off and notice the difference of image at the edge of your sight - it is subtle but you will notice image is more realistic with fisheye.

Download and try it from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... perwatervr

This is awesome! Best looking app I think. The headtracking needs some work, but still good. I notice you also have one called cartoon village. Could you port that one?

This is beautiful. Actually, it performs very well.. it's the only demo so far where I don't notice any motion sickness at all.
It doesn't matter whether I use fish eye or not, so perhaps it's because I'm getting a really good frame rate?
Whatever the case; please port more of your live wallpapers. :) Heck, if you release a pack of them I'd pay for it.

After the update head tracking only goes up and down for me. I have no side to side at all.

@dboxvr and @kwest - Yes, we plan to port Cartoon Village and some other live wallpapers too.
Can you please report what Android version and device do you use?
Anyways I will add some "Safe Mode" headtracking option which you can turn on in case of headtracking issues. It will work as before update.

I am using 4.4.2 on a Galaxy S3. The headtracking wasn't working fantastically before the update either. It would go side to side, but sometimes it would just get stuck where it was.

On online library https://wallpapercosmos.com/ there are a lot of good and interesting wallpapers regarding Lantern Festival. Sometimes I regret that I my origin is not japanese/chinese so that I could go to these festivals myself in live action, rather than use VR systems. But anyway, thank you for your input!
