Solar System VR [ANDROID]
Solar System VR [ANDROID]

So I thought we could use a game where we can just fly trough our solar system.
Basically you can do this now. It has a nice ambient music ( Some of you should know it from another game ) and you can see all 8 Planets - If you can find them!
Please give feedback.
It would be nice, if you could provide me:

How to play:
Basically there is one control -> Look around!
You're moving in a moderate speed to the direction you're looking.
If your camera drifts, lay down your phone on a table and wait like 20secs until it stops moving, now it should be calibrated.

its cool i didn't realize i can move till it did. fun surprise.
graphics can be "shit" but i really don't get the 3D Effect.
it looks like 2D not 3d.
and its should be faster.
i got little tip for you, you can implement it anyway you want.
If you put objects near the camera near the "player" the VR and 3D effect looks a lot more convincing.
you can add maybe asteroids, or glowing things. the player needs to feel surrounded by the environment.
something that make space more alive.
anyway it was still fun experience.diSty

I just tried it out. It's pretty neat, though it's not something that can grab my attention for very long as-is.
You chose great models and fly speed, though these are some things I would like to see if you could work them in somehow:
- Adjustable fly speed using either the touch screen or magnet (google cardboard) to switch between low, medium, high, and off.
- Like @diSty said, closer common objects and small objects will help fulfill a larger sense of depth. I like the current realistic approach (the vast emptiness of space), but I think you could still fill plenty more space with asteroids, satellites, space dust, etc.
- If you wanna get real fancy with it, you could include an optional menu that shows a map of the solar system and allows you to pick a planet (or dwarf planet, or in the case of the sun a star) to start from.
This app seems like it has potential for sure. I can't wait to see how it develops.3Andron3icus3

Phone Model: Samsung Galaxy Nexus with iDroid controller
Android Version: 4.3
Found Bugs:
* I can fly into a planet, which causes it to become invisible. When I look around, it is simply gone until I fly out of it again. At first I thought I had jumped somewhere else and spend some time looking for the lost planet.
* Moving up or down worked, although it was bad for my neck, since it involved starring at the ceiling or floor for a long time. I still did it, so obviously this "known bug" was a "feature" for me, esp. since otherwise the planets ended up way above me.
Average FPS: ~7.5. Usually demos that can't get above 15FPS start to jump all over the place, so I am assuming this one is already using the Dive plugin 2.0. I am happy that it works at all, while e.g. DiveSpace is completely unusable for me due to jittering.
What should I change/add? Eventually personal thoughts:
I've spend a lot of time with "Solar Walk" on the iPad. Some of the features I really liked and that might be interesting to implement:
* Showing the orbits of planets as thin lines
* Possibility to speed up time to see the planets moving along their orbits
* Zooming out of the solar system to watch the orbiting planets from above
* Jumping to planets
* Obviously all the textual information and images given for each solar object, but this probably wouldn't work well here. "Name tags" would be a nice option.
All these options allow playing around with the whole solar system and the constellation of planets. Watching the planets in close up is nice in Solar Walk due to HiRes textures, but isn't actually the primary "activity", simply because it doesn't allow any type of interactivity and never really changes. I obviously enjoy solar system simulators, including Solar System VR, but the "playing around" part is what keeps them interesting after the initial tour around, therefore it would be nice to be able to do more than fly and look around.faduci

Since I don't have that much time this week, i just did a little Update.
I added some asteroids EVERYWHERE so the 3D feels are a bot more intense.
test it
Also I'm now on Play Store, links updated!Montaxx

Solar System VR is a great app for those who are interested in the solar system and want to learn more about it. It has a good interface that lets you explore the solar system by clicking on different buttons while listening to an audio guide. Click https://masterbundles.com/templates/presentations/powerpoint/space/ source to get free templates. It also provides a lot of information about each planet and its moons, including facts about the planets, their size, mass, density, etc.
